The EPA and the coal companies seem to be continuously at war. They are always fighting in court over the amount of pollution released into the air. The decisions of the courts play an important part in the fighting. Recently, Texas sued for a stay against their coal companies so that they have more time to implement safety precautions.

The state of Texas has won the latest round of fighting as the court granted them more time to design cleaner ways to produce their energy. The EPA has said that it will wait for awhile but will continue to try to enforce the necessary laws to provide for public safety.

I think that it’s about time that congress gets smart. It seems that they are doing so by the announcement that they plan to freeze some of the money that is going to the country of Pakistan. Pakistan has repeatedly broken the rules set by the U.S. and has helped our enemies plan their attacks on innocent U.S. citizens.

I don’t believe that we should help this country in any way. Cutting off their funding may make them think twice about who is with them and who is not. I hope it works.

One item in the news that has me puzzled is the fact that many people are rolling their own cigarettes. By doing so, people can save a lot of money if they spend the time to do it. Some state governments are against the practice and are trying to have it outlawed. I don’t agree with this.

I smoke and I have had occasion to roll my own cigarettes. To have the government tell me that I should pay taxes for this is wrong. I say that people should have the right to do what they want without government interference.

In order to save money, some in congress are proposing a law that allows questionable choices for school lunches.

One item that has many frustrated is the fact that ketchup can be counted as a vegetable. This has food experts going out of their minds. I would ask congress to consider that their kids were in public schools and what they would like for them.

The new law will help speed up the process it takes to approve new patents. There is currently a large backlog of about 700,000 patents waiting to be approved.

The new law is sponsored by democrat Patrick Leahy and republican Lamar Smith. I am glad that they are finally able to agree on something and start working together. The law will enable people to have their new ideas be approved quickly and will help the economy grow.

In the news today is an article about the U.S. intends to withhold $800 million dollars in aid from the Pakistani military. I was glad to hear this as I am a little tired of Pakistan’s antics. They are supposed to be our friends but it seems that they are stabbing us in the back at times.

As a taxpayer, I get frustrated when I know we are giving money away to people who don’t seem to respect us. They still seem to be mad about the raid on Osama Bin Laden. I say we keep our money until they change their minds about the world.

One thing is for certain, we have some leads! After the raid on Osama’s hideout, investigators have dozens of new leads to follow.

Tracking down those who followed Bin Laden will be difficult, but it is now a little easier due to analysts and experts who have reviewed the materials found in his home. I wish them good luck in finding those who would harm us and bringing them to justice.

I find it a little strange that there was a crowd of about 100 people shown celebrating in front of the White House within minutes of President Obama’s announcement. Where did all those people come from? How did they get there so quickly? Where did they get all those flags they were waving? After all, the announcement come late on Sunday night and the White House is not in a residential area. I find the whole thing very suspicious.

The cost of the materials used to make pennies has risen and prices are expected to go higher. I guess the question is whether we still need the penny at all.

I believe that while the general public at large still like having pennies around, they would only be missed for awhile. It would make good economic sense to eliminate the penny and we could save a bundle of money.

Over these last many years, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a fixture in California politics. His time as governor will end soon as he turns over the reigns to incoming governor Jerry Brown. Whatever you think of his politics, I am sure that everyone will agree that he has made his mark on history.

The governor leaves behind a legacy of enacting a strong clean environment agenda as well as a fiscal mess. He says his borrowing of billions of dollars is an investment in the future. I hope it pays off for him and the people of that great state.
