I did a friend of mine a favor today. He is out of town for a few days and wanted me take his hotdog cart out to the beach for him. His daughter is 17 and runs the stand, but she needs someone to hook the cart to the truck and bring it to the beach. I must admit that I don’t have a lot of experience pulling a cart, but I got the job done.

The bad part is that I have to go back later and pick the cart up. I don’t look forward to trying to back the cart back into the storage space where I got it from. I’ll do my best though and we’ll see what happens. He owes me one!!

There is an on-going debate between trekkies as to whether Captain James T. Kirk or Captain Jean Luc Picard is the best captain in the whole of the Star Trek series. I really like both of them for their separate qualities in dealing with unique situations. Kirk is more action oriented, a look before you leap kind of guy. Picard is diplomatic, thoughtful, weighing all sides before making a decision. Each captain was developed for different eras in the Star Trek history and are very different because of this separation of time periods. Still they aren’t the only two captains in all of Trekdom. There’s Benjamin Sisko from DS9, Captain Katherine Janeway of Voyager and the adventurous Captain Johnathan Archer of the original Enterprise.

As a girl, I’d like to throw in my two biased cents and suggest Janeway as the archetypal and therefore, best Starfleet captain. She contains elements of action and diplomacy and displayed both in several episodes of Voyager. In Macrocosm, she pulled an Ellen Ripley with that phaser weapon. In Scorpion, Janeway forges a tense and dangerous diplomatic alliance with the Borg and later uses powers of persuasion and empathy to help Seven of Nine, the former Borg drone, integrate with the Voyager crew.

While Picard and Kirk are excellent examples for their respective time periods, when I sit down to watch Star Trek on my satellite television, that I got after seeing these www.tvbydirect.com, it’s Voyager’s Janeway that stands out as the best of Star Trek captains.

Now that the world is rid of renowned terrorists Osama Bin Laden, many are wondering what the next steps we will take against the terrorists are going to be. One thing is for certain, we have some leads! After the raid on Osama’s hideout, investigators have dozens of new leads to follow.

Tracking down those who followed Bin Laden will be difficult, but it is now a little easier due to analysts and experts who have reviewed the materials found in his home. I wish them good luck in finding those who would harm us and bringing them to justice.

There are many things I enjoy about my current job. One thing that I really like is the fact that we are always trying to reach out to the public. Like any other company we do a lot of advertising, but sometimes we take it one step farther. We do some shows from time to time when we can. It gives us a chance to get some great feedback from our customers.

While most of the shows have gone very well, there were some drawbacks we found. One drawback was the fact that people were going all over our display and we found it hard to deal with crowd control. We felt we were losing out on the one on one discussion we desired. That’s why we decided to install barricades. We didn’t want to intimidate anyone and so thought it best to go with stanchions and velvet rope. This worked out very well.

Now our shows are working out a lot better. Our customers are happier and we are getting the feedback we want. I think it’s the small things that count when it comes to running a smart business. I am glad we were able to identify the problem and solve it. That’s why I like my company so much.

I woke up especially early this morning and turned on the TV. I was glad to see that the three stooges were on. I used to watch them all the time when I was young but I hadn’t seen them in awhile. It was fun to watch their old antics and I was happy to relive some of the great memories I had of them.

It’s too bad that they are all gone now but they have left a legacy that will last for a long time. I hope my kids will be able to experience them in the same way that I did!
