There is a new strain of bacteria that is immune to nearly every antibiotic known to man. It is called Acinetobacter baumannii. This bacterium is known as Gram-negative due to its reaction to a Gram stain test. The bacteria can cause symptoms such as pneumonia and bloodstream and urinary tract infections. It is becoming more and more common in hospitals around the world.

To date, there is no treatment for the bacteria. Its cell structure makes it difficult to develop antibiotics for it. Thousands of people in many hospitals have succumbed to its effects and died. Some few people recover on their own, but that’s not very reliable. I hope that some company will look into this situation and develop a treatment.

We have to hand it to the Mexican government for cracking down on drug cartels. The have recently made dramatic inroads in the fight against these criminals and have made many high profile arrests. The problem is now these gangs are switching tactics and moving to other countries with weaker law enforcement.

Venezuela is now a favorite spot for these drug smugglers and business is good. Bolivia is also a safe haven for these cartels. The real problem seems to be the excessive demand for drugs in the U.S. I encourage every citizen to do their part in preventing drugs to reach our children. I hope that people realize that when they choose to take drugs, they are supporting death and destruction for others around the world.

There are many good things about having a big family. One thing that I like is that there is always something going on. This week will mark a birthday for my niece’s baby. She will be one years old on Thursday. I knew I had to get her a gift and so I went online to find one. I turned to one of my favorite sites called shopwiki.com.
