One thing to know about the country of Venezuela is that they depend almost entirely on the Guri Dam for their electrical needs. The problem is that the dam has had record lows in its water levels lately and is in danger of shutting down. Citizens of the country are suffering through shutdowns in stores and industry because of the lack of power generated.

Many people blame the President Hugo Chavez for the disaster saying that he has neglected the power supply for the country despite that fact that they receive millions in oil revenue. The president has ordered rationing as a way to stretch the remaining water supply until the spring rains come. I hope the come soon for the people of the country!

The job I have can be very demanding at times and calls for someone with a cool head. I deal with many situations and some are more difficult to handle than others. One problem that kept coming up was our need to translate materials into other languages. We have a high volume of printed materials and they need to be accessible by all. These days, we need all the business we can get and leaving out an important group would hurt our bottom line.

I searched my staff and found that there were few if any who were qualified to carry out the translation duties I had in mind. Not only would the tasks be of large volume, but they would also be time consuming. I would also expect that the jobs would require an expertise in the target languages. I knew I needed to seek help from outside the company.

I was glad to find that there are some companies who have people who can serve as a translator. I found that it was much cheaper to utilize these services than to try to train our own people. I was also impressed by their reliability and timeliness. I am glad that my job has become a little bit easier as I have many things to do!
