As a child, one of my favorite memories is of Gumby and his horse Pokey. I remember watching their adventures during the Howdy Doody Show. The giant green bendable ginger bread man was always a favorite of mine. I was saddened to learn that his creator finally succumbed to repeated bladder infections and died today.

Gumby was created by Art Clokey who hailed from the University of Southern California. The character appeared on many shows and has become a staple part of Americana. I am saddened at the loss of such a special man but am heartened by the fact that his creation will live on!

Everyone knows that we are a family of shoppers. With Christmas just over, you would think we’ve had enough. That has turned out not to be the case and we spent a good part of the day shopping online. My wife and I were looking into purchasing a new bedroom vanity so that she could have a place just for her stuff. She said that we could share it, but I am sure that it will be mostly for her.

Another item we were looking at was a toddler car seat for her niece who really needs one. It seems that her old one just wasn’t very convenient for her to use and she wanted to replace it. We offered to get one for her and she accepted our offer. She was glad not to have to look all around town for one and so we thought we would solve that problem for her.

I guess that when we get started shopping; we sometimes get on a roll. Since we were having so much fun, we decided to look for more things we needed. We found a nice pair of hush puppies shoes that we thought my son would like and so we ordered them. We finally called it a day and ended our little shopping spree so that dinner could be prepared. There is nothing like a nice day of shopping to make you hungry!
