I never thought I would see the day when giant jellyfish threatened to shut down some of the top industries in the world, but that is just what seems to be happening. Seaside power plants, the fishing industry, desalination plants, and tourism are all suffering from the unprecedented rise of the numbers of jellyfish. The warming of the oceans seems to be to blame.

Most scientists agree that the oceans are warming due to climate change and this has caused the increase in numbers and territorial range of the jellyfish. The fish clog up intake valves, ruin the fishermen’s catches, and can deliver vicious stings to beachgoers. Of course, there are other factors to the rise of the jellies, but I hope that our governments will realize the importance cutting greenhouse gases.
