Since the high seas have been a matter of contention lately with the advent of modern day pirates, the navy is working hard to respond to the threat. There are a pair of new navy ships that have top speeds which will enable them to combat the pirates. The ships named Independence and Freedom have top speeds of nearly 52 miles per hour.
While the new ships are expensive, the navy justifies the need by saying that the ships are needed to chase down pirates in the shallow waters near the shore. Both ships use new designs to achieve their goals. I hope the navy will continue to utilize the latest technologies to build ships capable of chasing down the pirates.
