I always enjoy it when I have choices. I think that having a variety of options will always make life better. I thought I would take a minute and congratulate the state of Florida on their new addition to their power grid. The Desoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center is scheduled to open this week and will supply up to 25 megawatts of power. This will make it the largest photovoltaic center in the U.S.

The plant will make enough power to supply about 3,000 homes. It will be the equivalent of taking about 25,000 cars off the road. I certainly hope that Florida will continue to follow the path of solar energy and thank them for their efforts thus far!

Since the high seas have been a matter of contention lately with the advent of modern day pirates, the navy is working hard to respond to the threat. There are a pair of new navy ships that have top speeds which will enable them to combat the pirates. The ships named Independence and Freedom have top speeds of nearly 52 miles per hour.

While the new ships are expensive, the navy justifies the need by saying that the ships are needed to chase down pirates in the shallow waters near the shore. Both ships use new designs to achieve their goals. I hope the navy will continue to utilize the latest technologies to build ships capable of chasing down the pirates.
